Welcome to Story Learning Lab©! I’m Ben Teacher, an ESL/EFL educator based in Seoul, South Korea. I specialize in developing engaging, research-backed, and classroom-tested learning materials for young English language learners (ages 6–11).
I created Story Learning Lab to bridge the gap between educational research and what actually works in a real, fast-paced classroom—supporting both academic progress and personal character development.

Story Learning Lab© was developed through a classroom-based action research project completed as part of a UK Master’s in Education degree with the University of Essex. The project explored how teacher-mediated, AI-generated storytelling could support vocabulary retention and reading comprehension in young ESL learners.
The approach combines student ideas with teacher-guided story creation, AI-generated stories and illustrations, and digital storybook design to create engaging, context-rich learning experiences for early language learners.
Meet Ben Teacher
For the past five years, I have taught English to kindergarten and elementary students in Seoul, delivering engaging lessons across phonics, speaking, listening, reading, writing and vocabulary development.
Working in a fast-paced ESL environment has given me a first-hand understanding of the challenges teachers face: limited preparation time, mixed ability levels and the need to keep young learners meaningfully engaged. Every resource in this store begins with a genuine classroom need. Each one is thoughtfully designed, tested and refined with my own students before being shared with fellow educators.

Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy centers on five core principles:
1. Character, Ethics & Social-Emotional Growth
Language learning is about more than memorizing words—it is a vehicle for personal growth. By exploring stories that highlight kindness, teamwork, empathy, and integrity (such as helping others in need or overcoming challenges together), students learn to reflect on moral choices. Every resource aims to nurture responsible, thoughtful, and compassionate individuals.
2. Story-Based Learning Builds Better Retention
Children connect with stories naturally. When vocabulary and grammar are embedded into imaginative narratives, students retain new language much faster than through isolated drills. Narrative contexts give words meaning, purpose, and emotional resonance.
3. Scaffolding Precedes Confidence
Quiet or hesitant speakers thrive when given clear, structured support. By breaking complex tasks into manageable steps—using sentence frames, visual cues, and deliberate repetition—students build the confidence needed to express themselves independently and respectfully.
4. Purposeful Repetition, Not Boring Drills
Effective learning requires repetition, but repetition doesn't have to be tedious. Through interactive games, word searches, bingo, and creative storytelling, students practice target vocabulary multiple times while staying actively motivated.
5. Low Prep, High Impact
